We like to believe that people are basically good, that sincere effort is enough, and that we can make things right with God. Scripture tells a more honest and more hopeful story. Sin runs deeper than we want to admit, and we cannot save ourselves. Yet God has not left us without hope. Forgiveness and eternal life come as gifts of his grace through the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
